Pasta Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Pasta Cook to join our team at Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar. As a Pasta Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking pasta dishes to the highest standards, ensuring that every dish that leaves the kitchen is of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation: Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Food Safety: Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
• Cooking Techniques: Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking, season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
• Portion Control: Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.
• Teamwork: Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
• Menu Variety: Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
• Food Handling: Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
• Inventory Management: Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies or procure food from storage.
• Meat Preparation: Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches.
• Bakery: Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries when asked.
• Professionalism: Always maintain professional demeanor with all staff.
• Opening and Closing Procedures: Follow opening and closing procedures.

Requirements:

• Teamwork and Cleanliness: The ability to work as part of a team, and personal cleanliness, including uniform maintenance.
• Basic Food Handling: Very basic food handling, preparation, and cleaning skills are welcomed.
• Time Management: Time management and ability to work under pressure to manage high volume of production.
• Communication: Active listening and learning skills, ability to communicate and understand direction in English to ensure safety in the workplace.
• Reading and Speaking Comprehension: Reading and speaking comprehension skills.
• Discipline: Discipline to follow set standards.
• Lifting: Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
