Job Summary

Under the general direction and supervision of the manager, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the complex and critical job of endoscope and equipment decontamination / reprocessing and is the departmental expert in this vitally important area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the decontamination and reprocessing of endoscopes and equipment
  • Develop and maintain expertise in endoscope processing and repair
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient and effective procedure room preparation and setup
  • Participate in inventory control and scope reprocessing
  • Test and document endoscope processing and repair
Requirements
  • At least one year of Surg Tech/GI Tech experience
  • Completion of education from accredited surgical technician program or certified as GI Technician
  • BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and adherence to GI Lab policies and procedures following orientation
  • Skill in reading documents written in Standard English text
  • Skill in evaluation and implementation of technical information
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly to obtain and convey information
  • Writing skills sufficient to use appropriate vocabulary and grammar
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently
  • Ability to adapt to change
