Position Overview:
The Outpatient Registered Nurse is an essential member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting. This role is designed for individuals entering the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) and involves comprehensive patient management, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide competent nursing care under the supervision of a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge.
- Conduct systematic collection and analysis of patient data throughout the hemodialysis process, ensuring accurate documentation and timely modifications to treatment plans.
- Assess and document the educational needs of patients and their families, facilitating ongoing education regarding treatment options.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
- Administer prescribed medications and document their effectiveness, adhering to established protocols.
- Participate in emergency response initiatives as necessary.
- Support the training and orientation of new staff members, acting as a resource for the healthcare team.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and manage any missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
- Work closely with the Interdisciplinary Team to update nursing assessments and care plans.
- Promote patient awareness regarding transplant and treatment modality options.
- Complete all CAP requirements to facilitate career advancement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires direct patient interaction, which may involve heavy lifting and assistance with patient mobility. The position necessitates prolonged periods of standing and the ability to bend and lift items as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Upon meeting specific criteria, the Outpatient Registered Nurse may oversee Patient Care Technicians and other nursing staff.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current state nursing licensure.
- Certification in CPR/BLS.
- Entry-level position for RNs with less than one year of nephrology nursing experience.
Compensation:
The compensation for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, including education and relevant experience.
