Job Title: Behavior Specialist

Job Summary:

Brook Lane Inc is seeking a skilled Behavior Specialist to join our team at Laurel Hall School in Frederick, MD. As a Behavior Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing student care, instruction, and behavioral support to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Supervision: Supervise students during academic periods and non-academic periods, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Classroom Management: Assist teachers in maintaining a structured and organized classroom environment.
  • Personal Care: Help students with activities of daily living, such as physical care and eating, as needed.
  • Crisis Intervention: Perform crisis intervention with students exhibiting behavior problems, using verbal de-escalation and physical restraint techniques as necessary.
  • One-on-One Support: Provide individualized support to students as needed, including transportation and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school degree required.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with school-aged children and the autism population is preferred.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform behavior management duties, including standing and being on the floor.
  • Training: Ability to pass therapeutic restraints training course.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to deal with student aggression and intense behaviors.
  • Compassion: Ability to assist students with activities of daily living.
