Peer Advocate

Join Northern Rivers Family of Services as a Peer Advocate and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, adults, and families. As a Peer Advocate, you will be an ally, mentor, and advocate for clients and families as they navigate the challenges of mental illness.

As a Peer Advocate, you will:

• Engage individuals and establish trusting relationships to support their treatment plans
• Contribute to client treatment plans and advocate for their needs
• Participate in daily treatment team meetings and work with other team members to provide support and assistance
• Provide individual face-to-face support to youth and families
• Meet with family, youth, and collateral contacts to provide psychoeducation about serious mental illness

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate's Degree preferred
• A valid New York State driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle
• Completion of the NYCPS-Provisional certification for review by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB)
