Summary

This role involves the design, installation, integration, configuration, diagnosis, security, and commissioning of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) pertinent to water treatment and distribution, as well as wastewater management. Responsibilities include providing expertise in electrical systems, instrumentation, and control mechanisms, while ensuring the integrity and security of the ICS environment through established operational protocols.

Collaboration with various departments is essential for designing database schemas that integrate ICS with other systems. The role also entails developing and modifying Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, which includes tasks such as graphics creation, report development, and troubleshooting.

Key duties include:

  • Designing and commissioning SCADA-based automated control systems.
  • Enhancing process control by collaborating with stakeholders to identify and implement improvements.
  • Providing technical support throughout the design, construction, and startup phases of capital projects.
  • Coordinating with internal and contract electrical and instrumentation teams as necessary.
  • Offering engineering services to troubleshoot and support various control systems and equipment.
  • Commissioning new equipment and assisting in training operational staff.
  • Participating in project meetings and reviewing design documentation.
  • Assisting in the procurement of necessary goods and services.
  • Preparing CAD electrical drawings and technical documentation in accordance with standards.
  • Performing administrative tasks related to equipment purchasing.
  • Completing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Proficiency with Modicon PLCs, AutomationDirect PLCs, Wonderware software, and Ignition software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to chemicals and dust.
  • A valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

This position requires medium physical work, including the ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force.

Additional physical capabilities include balancing, climbing, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.


Work Environment

Work is conducted in settings where errors can have significant consequences. The role may involve responding to emergencies outside of regular hours.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of relevant experience, preferably with related software.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations

A valid driver's license is required.
