About the Job

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the well-being of our nation's veterans.

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for performing assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran. This includes collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, precepting and mentoring new staff and students, and completing education modules in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including administering medications, documenting patient information, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver timely, efficient, and effective care to veterans.
  • Precept and mentor new staff and students, providing guidance and support to ensure successful onboarding.
  • Complete education modules in a timely manner, staying up-to-date on the latest nursing practices and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including admission, daily, weekly, and discharge notes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and/or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • At least one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, with a strong background in nursing care and patient assessment.
