About the Job

As a Unit Counselor at Urban Recovery, you will play a crucial role in supporting patients in their recovery journey. Your primary responsibilities will include providing individual and group counseling sessions, conducting clinical assessments, and interacting with patients in a professional and empathetic manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage caseloads
  • Perform weekly individual and group counseling sessions
  • Conduct clinical assessments and intake as needed
  • Interact with patients in a professional, courteous, and supportive way
  • Regularly communicate with Counselors and Nursing staff regarding patient issues and patient care
  • Encourage positive interactions and conversations amongst patients and staff
  • Assure patients adhere to program activity schedule
  • Educate clients on daily living activities and ensure healthy functioning
  • Observe clients for inconsistent behavior and report to appropriate staff
  • Under the supervision of a master level QHP, assist with monthly skills-based workshops relative to chemical dependency
  • Assist with the process, completion, and distribution of incident reports based on established agency-wide protocol
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly case conference and case reviews
  • Assist with the clinical discharge process and ensure patient receives all required referrals and discharge information
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients at all times
  • Ensure that patients see nursing staff upon discharge
  • De-escalate behaviorally compromised patients
  • Act as a role model for patients and peers
