Electrical Engineer Job Description

Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer at Akana, you will apply the principles of electricity, power generation, and electrical distribution to assess and design systems that meet our clients' project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide full electrical engineering and design services from conceptual to issue for construction.
  • Assist and design clarification responses during the construction implementation of designs generated by Akana.
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level I, 2, and 3 Energy Audits and provide recommended energy conservation measures for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Review electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications for constructability and energy efficiency.
  • Perform commissioning process as part of a team or independently, including site visits on all types of buildings and power distribution systems.
  • Witness third-party start-ups and testing of system components.
  • Facilitate commissioning functional performance testing of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
Requirements:
  • EIT preferred, Professional Engineer Registrations preferred.
  • Electrical building or utility power distribution and lighting experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience.
  • Demonstrated CAD and 3D skills, Revit or MicroStation a plus.
  • Competent in the use of electrical engineering software, arcflash software a plus.
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Low and medium voltage experience preferred, controls experience desired.
  • Knowledge of motors and power generation.
  • Lighting design experience a plus.
