Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team. As a Cybersecurity Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of our digital assets. Your primary responsibility will be to perform technical work to protect our systems from unauthorized access, including monitoring security posture, conducting phishing simulations, tracking vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, providing security awareness training, and supporting the implementation of security policies and best practices.

You will work collaboratively with our Cyber Security Team to implement security measures and best practices, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail while maintaining confidentiality due to the nature of the work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate potential security policy violations and breaches;
  • Analyze security breaches to determine root causes and prepare reports;
  • Collaborate on creating, testing, and implementing network disaster recovery plans;
  • Assist with risk assessments, internal and external vulnerability scans;
  • Support management of network, intrusion detection, and prevention systems;
  • Work with outside entities, IT personnel, and internal departments to remediate discovered vulnerabilities;
  • Assist with meeting and maintaining regulatory compliance with PCI-DSS, CJIS, HIPAA, etc.;
  • Install and administer data encryption, anti-virus, and other security measures;
  • Operate SIEM tuning, administering and investigating event logs;
  • Collaborate on developing, implementing, and updating security policies and best practices;
  • Assist with patch management and network equipment upgrades;
  • Train users and promote security awareness;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, vulnerability scanners, MFA, and industry-standard techniques;
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (NIST CSF & 800-53, CJIS, HIPAA, PCI, etc.);
  • Knowledge of current security threats, techniques, and landscape;
  • Thorough knowledge of network operations (LAN, WAN, SAN, VPN);
  • Strong understanding of Windows servers and Microsoft Active Directory;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities;
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing organizational needs;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Ability to work effectively with various individuals, including developers, systems administrators, executives, customers, regulators, auditors, etc.

Salary Estimate:$80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
