Job Description

As a Railroad Conductor with Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains across our network. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Train Operations: Control and coordinate train movements, switching railcars in yards, industrial plants, and other locations to facilitate the unloading and loading of railcars in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with train dispatchers, yardmasters, and other crew members to coordinate train movements and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure the safe operation of trains and the security of railcars and cargo by following all relevant regulations and protocols.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other crew members to achieve common goals and ensure the smooth operation of trains.
Qualifications:
  • High School Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be physically able to walk on uneven terrain, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and ride on the side of railcars for extended periods.
  • Certifications and Training: Must be willing to undergo training and obtain any necessary certifications to perform the duties of this position.
