Nurse Midwife

The Nurse Midwife at Montefiore Medical Center participates in performance improvement and research activities, maintaining professional practice standards and clinical expertise. This role demonstrates leadership skills and core competencies based on the patient population served.
The Nurse Midwife assumes complete responsibility for the care and management of essentially healthy women in accordance with the midwifery practice agreement and institutional practice privileges.
Key responsibilities include participating in educational activities for healthcare students and assisting with research studies.
Required qualifications include a current New York State license as a Registered Nurse, a current New York Midwifery License, and certification for prescriptive rights by NYS Department of Education.
Additional requirements include participation in ACNM Continuing Competency Programs, a Baccalaureate Degree and Masters Degree, and satisfactory registered professional nurse experience.
Preferred qualifications include five years of satisfactory clinical nurse-midwifery experience, which may be substituted for a Masters Degree.
