Position Summary:
The Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist is a dedicated member of the Rehabilitation team responsible for assessing and treating children with physical, developmental, and behavioral challenges in an outpatient environment.
Job Relationships:
Reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services. Supervises: OT/OTA students. Collaborates with all healthcare team members, including physicians and support staff. Consultation with physicians and agencies supporting children and families is essential.
Primary Customers Served:
- Infants (31 days – 1 year)
- Pediatrics (1 – 12 years)
- Adolescents (13 – 18 years)
- Young Adults
- Families/Visitors
- Physicians
- Community Agencies
Education and Training Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
- Licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
Experience:
Preferred one to two years of experience working with pediatric populations.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Entry-level or advanced clinical skills.
- Preferred background in NDT or SI.
- Ability to foster a collaborative teamwork environment.
- Creativity and patience when working with children and families.
- Flexibility in approach based on the child's responses.
- CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of independent work.
Physical Requirements:
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds for patient care and equipment maneuvering.
- Occasional pushing/pulling with up to 50 pounds of force.
- Occasional carrying of up to 50 pounds during patient care.
- Occasional climbing of stairs/ladders/ramps.
- Occasional balancing while providing patient care.
- Occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead.
Sight:
- Occasional use of far vision, depth perception, and color recognition for patient assessment.
- Frequent near vision for reading and using equipment.
Cognition/Communication:
- Frequent effective communication with physicians, patients, families, and staff.
- Constant verbal communication skills.
- Occasional math skills for patient assessments.
Environmental Conditions:
- Consistent indoor patient environment.

- Occasional exposure to infectious materials and hazardous waste.

- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with patients and families.
- Flexibility in adapting to changing tasks and schedules.
