We are seeking a highly motivated Admissions Coordinator to join our team at Inova Specialty Hospital, a joint venture with Select Medical. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
About the RoleThis key position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth admission process of patients into our hospital. As an Admissions Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing referral intake and admission processes, staying in close communication with various departments to prepare for the day of admission. Your primary goal will be to provide exceptional patient care while maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Conversion Calls with the Business Development team each morning to discuss potential referrals and admissions.
- Verify Medicare benefits and secondary/supplemental insurance plans for all referred patients upon arrival in Transitions of Care (TOC).
- Accurately enter referral, admission, denial, and/or conversion data using various online programs and databases.
- Ensure all deficiencies remain at 0% to prevent holds and maintain financial viability.
- Communicate relevant data to clinical liaisons, case managers, prior authorization teams, and physicians to facilitate a seamless admission process.
- Prominently oversee the physical admission of patients, guaranteeing that all necessary equipment, medication, and other requirements are present in their room.
- Prior experience working in a hospital, physician practice, or insurance environment is essential.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
- Direct experience in third-party insurance verification and knowledge of Medicare benefit applications is preferred.
- Previous customer service experience, particularly in the healthcare industry, is beneficial.
- A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
