Core Laboratory Supervisor Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Core Laboratory Supervisor to oversee technical operations during day and evening shifts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory testing and quality control, with experience in managing departmental expenses and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Orient, evaluate, and document the competency of testing personnel to ensure high-quality lab results.
  • Develop, maintain, and revise departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with quality control and safety regulations.
  • Review patient test results and quality control data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate the laboratory Quality Improvement Program with the Laboratory Director to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collect data to monitor high-volume or high-impact processes prone to errors and summarize findings for internal and external reporting.
  • Manage departmental expenses and productivity within budget to ensure efficient operations.
  • Supervise employee schedules, approve timesheets, and monitor PTO to maintain a productive team.
  • Monitor employee performance, conduct evaluations, and provide necessary counseling or discipline to promote a positive work environment.
  • Provide continuous training and updates on policies, procedures, and other information to ensure staff are equipped to excel in their roles.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biological, Medical Technology, or Physical Science, or equivalent experience required.
  • One year of laboratory training from an accredited program, or equivalent experience required.
  • Four years of laboratory testing in a high complexity environment required.
  • Six years of laboratory testing in a high complexity environment preferred.
  • Two years of experience in developing, implementing, and coordinating a Quality Improvement Program preferred.
