Telecommunications Engineer

Job Summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Transmission & Distribution global practice, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Conshohocken, PA office.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Research, design, and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
• Apply knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
• Create project deliverables, including device configurations, network architecture diagrams, and specifications.
• Utilize innovative tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3D scanning, and model-based design.
• Modify and review construction drawings and client presentations for various projects primarily related to electric utilities.
• Meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.
• Perform design quality reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, or other related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 3 years of utility telecommunications project or related experience. Consulting experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
• Ability to devise new approaches to problems encountered.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification is preferred.

Location

This position is based in Conshohocken, PA, and requires occasional travel (5% of the time).
