We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Math tutor specializing in Algebra to provide personalized support to students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, and ADHD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education, along with demonstrated experience in effectively teaching and accommodating the unique learning needs of students with specific learning differences.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction in Algebra (Pre, 1 and 2) to students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, and ADHD, ensuring that lessons are tailored to accommodate their learning styles and needs.
- Develop and implement customized lesson plans and teaching strategies to address the specific challenges faced by students with learning differences, while also focusing on building their confidence and mathematical skills.
- Utilize multi sensory teaching techniques and assistive technologies to enhance understanding and retention of mathematical concepts for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, and ADHD.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring different problem-solving approaches.
- Monitor student progress regularly, assess their strengths and areas for improvement, and adjust instructional methods accordingly to maximize learning outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to ensure a cohesive and holistic approach to supporting students with learning differences.
- Stay informed about the latest research, developments, and best practices in mathematics education and special education, particularly as they relate to teaching students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, and ADHD.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, Special Education, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven expertise in teaching Algebra at various grade levels, with a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies.
- Experience working with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, and ADHD, and a demonstrated ability to modify instruction and materials to meet their individual needs preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with multi sensory teaching methods, assistive technologies, and accommodations commonly used to support students with learning differences in mathematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues and effectively communicate complex mathematical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Patient, empathetic, and genuinely passionate about helping students overcome challenges and achieve academic success.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to plan and execute engaging and productive tutoring sessions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching credential or certification in Mathematics or Education.
- Previous experience working as a tutor or educator specializing in supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, and ADHD.
- Knowledge of specific intervention strategies and accommodations recommended for students with specific learning differences in mathematics.
- Training or coursework in special education, learning disabilities, or related fields.
- Experience using educational assessment tools to evaluate student progress and inform instructional decision-making.
Location: Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista
Schedule: Flexible hours, part-time
Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to get to and from each client's home
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on location and experience
