The Cashier performs various duties, including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawers, giving change, counting cash receipts, and completing cash reports. May also perform general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the service and dining room area.
Key Responsibilities- Verify cash at the beginning of the shift.
- Operate the cash register, receive cash from customers or employees in payment for goods or services, and record amounts received.
- Compute or recompute bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing the amount due using an adding machine or cash register, make change, cash checks, and issue receipts or tickets to customers.
- Control, organize, monitor, and maintain cash levels in the drawer.
- Prepare reports of transactions, read and record totals shown on the cash register tape, and verify against cash on hand.
- May make credit card transactions and may be required to know the value and features of items for which money is received.
- May give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise, operate a ticket-dispensing machine.
- Complete customer purchases by scanning merchandise or inputting price into the register quickly and accurately.
- Ensure all items are input into cash registers and menu boards.
- Ensure the facility is open 15 minutes prior to meal opening.
- Practice good sanitation techniques.
- Ensure the facility is secure at the close of meal.
- Comply with energy conservation and recycling programs.
- Comply with all HACCP policies and procedures.
- Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
- Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
- Other tasks as may be directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
- Pass and maintain any required security clearance requirements and comply with the Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Adhere to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operations procedures.
- Adhere to the Property Control Plan for the management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
- Adhere to the safety and health program that complies with EM and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and health requirements.
- Maintain a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
- Must have experience as a cashier.
- Must complete ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
