Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled HCV Inspector to join our team at Dayton Metropolitan Housing. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting property inspections to ensure compliance with housing quality standards (HQS) and local, state, and HUD regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct property inspections to ensure compliance with HQS standards and local, state, and HUD regulations.
- Inspect privately owned properties for owners who have contracted with Dayton Metropolitan Housing to ensure units are maintained in safe and sanitary conditions.
- Perform move-out inspections to assess damage by residents for owners, as well as complaints, complaint re-inspections, and other related special inspections.
- Complete automated inspection reports using Dayton Metropolitan Housing hardware and other associated reports and computer data entry of required information in an accurate and timely manner.
- Develop and maintain rapport with residents, property owners, social service agencies, and city and county inspectors to facilitate and support property inspection compliance.
- Provide emergency inspections as required and be available as scheduled outside of normal work hours.
- Make courtesy phone calls to all tenants/owners prior to conducting inspections.
- Take photographs at all inspections, including passed and failed items.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Team Leader or HCV Senior Manager.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree and one to three years of related experience.
- HQS certification or obtain certification within one year of employment.
- Valid Ohio Driver's License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly and precisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Walk, sit, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, and stand.
- Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment.
- Talk and hear.
- See and be able to read, write, and interpret text, spreadsheets, and graphs.
- Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
