We are seeking a highly skilled Stationary Engineer to join our team at WMC Health. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the operation, control, and maintenance of steam-generating equipment and other minor repairs of hospital equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and Maintain Steam-Generating Equipment: Manipulate valves to control the flow of water and fuel to increase or decrease steam pressure.
- Correct Malfunctions: Adjust equipment controls to correct malfunctions when indicated by observation or in response to warning lights, horns, or bells.
- Inspect and Monitor Equipment: Inspect boiler room observing the operation of equipment meters and gauges, comparing findings to defined specifications.
- Record and Maintain Logs: Maintain operating logs which include: fuel consumption, steam produced, blow-down time, and meter readings.
- Perform Minor Repairs: Perform minor repairs and maintenance of boilers, i.e., replacing gaskets, tightening joints, repairing valves, repacking pumps, etc.
- Perform Other Duties: Perform other minor repairs on hospital campus as assigned, or in response to requests from staff on weekends or 2nd/3rd shifts.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance: Complete required paperwork properly, using computer technology enhancements, as required; fulfill annual mandatory employee testing.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years boiler operation and maintenance experience preferred.
- Education: Less than High School; must read and write English.
- Licenses/Certifications: Apprenticeship or related trade school training or other directly related work experience.
- Physical Requirements: Extremely heavy physical effort (lift/carry 50-lbs or more). Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts supplies/equipment. Manual dexterity and mobility. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Frequent work while on ladders, scaffolds, etc.
