Job Overview

Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center (ESEC) is a regional nonprofit economic development organization that attracts increased economic development investment and entrepreneurial impact. As our new Value Chain Coordination Administrator, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to enhance the agri-food value chain in Maryland and Delaware.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with farmers, buyers, and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for creating and implementing outreach plans, tracking coordinated purchase and production plans, and providing support to virtual food hubs. Additionally, you will provide data and reporting on work plans, budgets, and metrics collection.

About the Role

As our Value Chain Coordination Administrator, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing outreach plans to inform farmers and buyers about regional market opportunities;
  • Tracking coordinated purchase and production plans to ensure smooth supply and demand chains;
  • Providing support to virtual food hubs to ensure successful aggregation and wholesale compliance standards;
  • Collaborating with private distributors and logistics providers to identify backhaul and outgoing delivery opportunities;
  • Providing data and reporting on work plans, budgets, and metrics collection.

Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with the following qualifications and skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as agriculture, business, or communications;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in basic software and technology, including MS Office Suite, Google Drive, and webinar platforms;
  • Familiarity with data management systems and ability to collect and analyze data;
  • Dependable and resilient self-starter with an interest and experience in taking on new challenges and overcoming obstacles with little supervision;
  • Excellent work ethic, self-starter, and problem solver, with the ability to innovate and create new tools and processes;
  • Outstanding organizational, record keeping, and data management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to network and collaborate with multi-agency/state initiatives;
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely to groups of farmers, buyers, and other stakeholders;
  • Solid business acumen and understanding of the agri-food industry;
  • Preferred skills and expertise in postharvest handling, wholesale produce quality standards, regulatory compliance, food procurement processes, and GHP/GAP food safety regulations within the farming, wholesale, or food service sectors.

What We Offer

In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
