Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of care.
- Anticipate and recognize changes in patient condition, status, and need for care, and take appropriate actions to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety, and work collaboratively with the healthcare team to coordinate patient-centered care.
- Actively coordinate discharge plans, applying evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Provide ongoing evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, and take action to improve processes and patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills, and promote collaboration among healthcare team members.
- Promote a culture of safety, identifying and intervening to prevent patient harm, and reporting patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner.
- Apply ethical decision-making, demonstrate respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines, and participate as an effective member of the patient care team.
- Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance the functions of the department and the patient care experience.
- Participate in professional activities that contribute to personal and professional development, and seek opportunities for teaching, coaching, and mentoring.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.
- Demonstrates progression to provide holistic patient care and the ability to view clinical situations from a patient and family focus.
- Demonstrates progression to recognize situational changes that require unplanned or unanticipated interventions, and responds to situations with confidence, timeliness, and flexibility.
- Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrates coordination, collaboration, delegation, and team-building skills.
