School Counselor

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated School Counselor to join our team at Poquoson City Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide school counseling services in the school setting, working closely with students, parents, and school personnel to support academic, personal, and social growth.

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students, addressing academic, personal, and social concerns.
• Develop and implement school-wide counseling programs, including character education, conflict resolution, and substance abuse prevention.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of student progress and involving them in the counseling process when necessary.
• Stay current with best practices in school counseling, attending professional development opportunities and participating in ongoing training and education.

• Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
• Valid Virginia teaching license with a School Counseling endorsement.
• Experience working with students in a school setting, preferably in a counseling or support role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
