Airport Maintenance Technician II Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Airport Maintenance Technician II to join our team at the Town of Addison, TX. As an Airport Maintenance Technician II, you will be responsible for performing regular maintenance of Airport assets and other tasks assigned to you with a high priority for workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform hangar and building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled on gates, hangar doors, and other applications.
  • Operate all equipment related to the maintenance and repairs of airport infrastructure, including pavements, building systems, lighting, signs, markings, and gates.
  • Perform all tasks related to the repair and maintenance of Addison Airport facilities.
  • Respond to, prioritize, and complete work orders utilizing a computerized work order system.
  • Perform required daily inspections on weekends/holidays, when on call, and when needed.
  • Respond when on call to all Alert 3 aircraft accidents.
  • Provide on-call rotation for after-hour repairs and emergencies.
  • Communicate with Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC) as needed to access movement areas.
  • Perform welding/structural repairs as assigned/needed.
  • Under supervision, assist in inspections and repairs of airfield lighting, including the entire lighting system from regulators to changing bulbs.
  • Perform hangar door maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of doors.
  • Perform maintenance on small mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other small equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools as related to the repair and maintenance of the airport.
  • Perform airfield mowing and general lawn maintenance.
  • Assist in the repair of ramps and apron pavements.
  • Perform snow and ice removal as needed.
  • Pick up Foreign Object Debris (FOD) while on the airfield.
  • Monitor surroundings when out on the airfield and report issues as observed.
  • Operate sweeper truck cleaning all airport pavements.
  • May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly, or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of experience maintaining and repairing facilities and/or airfield assets.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with fellow employees, Town officials, and outside contractors.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Clear criminal background check and clear pre-employment drug screen.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Work safety practices, procedures, and protocols.
  • Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Materials, tools, and equipment used in utility system repair and maintenance.
  • Per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20, selected candidate must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the English language.
  • Basic computer knowledge in Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Town applications.

License and Certification Requirements:
Valid Texas Driver's License is required. Must be able to obtain Airport Movement Area certification within two weeks of appointment.

Attendance Requirements:
This is a nonexempt position. Routine schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. Position will be a part of an on-call rotation once qualified. May be required to work overtime if needed. This position is required to live within a 45-minute response time of the Addison Airport.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work performed requires a high level of physical exertion, may be required to load and unload objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Work is often performed outdoors in all weather conditions and may require entry into confined spaces and extreme heights.
