Labor and Delivery Nurse Job Description

Cynet Health is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will work with mothers during antepartum, labor, recovery, and postpartum. Your responsibilities will include assisting the MD with delivery of the fetus, interpreting EKGs, and monitoring patients on telemetry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist MD with delivery of fetus
  • Interpret EKG and monitor patient on telemetry
  • Report to Supervisor on Unit
  • Assess and monitor patient throughout labor, identify complications during labor
  • Monitor contractions and help patient with breathing techniques, monitor patient on Telemetry
  • Perform phlebotomy skills
  • Administer other meds to address specific medical conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes
  • Read fetal monitor & ascertain if there is a problem with baby's heart rate
  • Ensure patient is in proper position for delivery & all monitoring equipment is functioning properly
  • Hand doctor delivery instruments as needed during birthing process
  • Assist MD in Operating Room for C-Section, Monitor patient on Telemetry
  • Immediate care of newborn (clean, weigh, etc.)
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current nursing license, in good standing
  • Minimum of one (1) year Labor & Delivery (L/D) experience
  • Fetal Monitoring
