Job Overview

Lead Senior Accountant - Steel Production Sector - Competitive Salary

  • Our client, a well-respected and expanding Steel Production organization, is currently in search of a Lead Senior Accountant.
  • This position requires full-time onsite presence, directly reporting to the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly financial closing process, including analytics, commentary, and reporting.
  • Execute data entry for all journal entries.
  • Track daily steel costs against consumption costs.
  • Calculate annual cost standards for inventory valuation.
  • Comprehend and monitor product costs across the entire inventory spectrum.
  • Prepare calculations and analyses for standard versus actual inventory variances.
  • Manage scrap processing discrepancies within the ERP system.
  • Review inventory reports and coordinate quarterly stockroom reserves.
  • Prepare intercompany cross charges as necessary.
  • Complete assigned monthly account reconciliations, journal entries, weekly spending reports, yield analyses, and maintain cycle count records.
  • Prepare quarterly forecast updates for designated companies.
  • Facilitate the annual budgeting process for assigned companies and assist with necessary consolidations.
  • Support the annual external audit and prepare quarterly financial disclosure roll-forwards for corporate review and submission.
  • Evaluate cost-saving initiatives for financial advantages.
  • Conduct ad hoc reporting as required.
  • Ensure all deadlines are met with accuracy and thoroughness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting and closing processes within manufacturing.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel or similar spreadsheet applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP is advantageous).
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% (domestic, limited to one week at a time).
