About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to join our team at Abbott Laboratories in St. Paul, MN. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our production equipment and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance on production equipment, including cleaning, adjusting, repairing, and replacing parts.
- Install and repair electrical, gas, air, and water systems.
- Perform facility maintenance on a preventive or emergency basis, ensuring all work areas are safe and well-maintained.
- Diagnose and repair complex equipment, including mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Assist in the establishment and execution of a preventive maintenance program.
- Provide job skill training as necessary and maintain licenses/certifications.
- Resolve maintenance issues and escalate when necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, and/or trade school certification/formal apprenticeship or other relevant specialized training.
- Complete knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the job, including single and three-phase electrical systems and electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in using standard maintenance, power, and hand tools and equipment used in the trade.
- Basic reading, writing, communication, interpersonal, and arithmetic skills/abilities.
- Ability to function in a collaborative and cooperative work environment.
- Working knowledge of commonly used desktop computer software applications (building automation, communications, and maintenance software).
- Ability to adapt to change, unforeseen situations, and handle work interruptions.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Occasional overtime is a requirement of this position.
- Duties regularly involve moderate to heavy body and strength movements, including lifting (up to approximately 50 lbs.), moving, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, and crawling.
- General knowledge of heating and cooling systems for general facilities operations and controlled environment operations.
- Ability to respond to after-hour calls on a 24/7 basis or willing to work pre-scheduled call-in weeks on a rotating shift with the facilities team.
