Paralegal Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our team at Randstad Enterprise. As a Paralegal, you will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys with litigation matters.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in paralegal studies and experience in insurance defense litigation. You will be responsible for reviewing new assignments, drafting and filing answers to complaints, and sending out initial discovery packages to plaintiffs and codefendants.

• Review new assignments and assess immediate action required
• Draft and file answers to complaints
• Send out initial discovery packages to plaintiffs and codefendants
• Diary and draft routine motions to move discovery along at an aggressive pace
• Perform investigative duties, including interviewing clients and witnesses
• Draft discovery responses in conjunction with clients
• Draft requests for plaintiff's medical records and coordinate processing with record vendors
• Draft chronology of medical and other records
• Perform as an alter-ego to the attorney, answering routine inquiries from claims and clients

• Typically 5-7 years of related experience
• Associate's degree in paralegal studies from an American Bar-approved program or certificate from an approved paralegal program
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance defense preferred
• Strong research skills and familiarity with the Internet and other sources for investigative purposes
• Strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize tasks and multi-task
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Works well with others and establishes sound working relationships
• Familiarity with Court system and civil procedure in Maine (New Hampshire a plus), including electronic court filing
• Familiarity with tort and insurance practice and laws
• Ability to draft substantive motions
• Computer (MS Office) and word processing proficiency
