Job Summary

The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Lifeguard. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining order at the swimming pool facility, performing rescue work, and providing emergency first aid as needed. You will also be responsible for instructing patrons on proper swimming pool etiquette and techniques, conducting opening and closing procedures of the facility, and maintaining the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds at the pool areas.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of patrons in swimming pools
• Perform rescue work, promptly render emergency first aid, and call for medical assistance as necessary
• Instruct patrons on proper swimming pool etiquette and techniques
• Conduct opening and closing procedures of the facility
• Maintain the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds at the pool areas

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Six months of experience as a pool lifeguard is preferred
• Possess current nationally recognized certifications: Lifeguard training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent, Standard First Aid or equivalent
• Ability to use and perform maintenance of pool equipment
• Understanding of and the ability to enforce rigid safety regulations to ensure maximum protection of swimmers
• Ability to use equipment to take pool readings
• Must be able to pass an initial and recurrent physical ability test
• National and state background checks are required

Working Conditions

• Work may be performed in settings where exposure to moderate discomforts, high temperatures, and/or adverse weather conditions exist
• May perform work that poses physical demands beyond normal requirements during rescue
