Position Overview

The Specialty Service Associate plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer experiences by supporting the Specialty team. As part of Whole Foods Market, all retail positions require a commitment to fostering a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and fellow Team Members.

Team Members are expected to perform their duties in accordance with established team and store Standard Operating Procedures, while also being prepared to take on responsibilities inherent in other Team Member roles.

All positions are designed to uphold WFM's core values and objectives, promote national, regional, and store initiatives, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including Food Safety and departmental regulatory duties.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills in crafting exquisite coffee beverages using our premium single-origin and specialty blends. This position emphasizes hands-on preparation, including grinding, tamping, and hand-pulling espresso shots, rather than relying on automated machines.

Additional responsibilities include brewing pour-overs, preparing specialty loose-leaf teas, and participating in cupping sessions to stay informed about the latest offerings.

Your passion for coffee and tea will shine through as you engage with customers, handle busy periods with poise, and deliver outstanding service.


Daily Duties

- Execute all tasks as directed by the Specialty Team Leader.
- Provide front desk support as needed, including guest check-ins, package sorting, and maintaining supply inventory.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a customer-first environment.
- Prepare brewed and espresso coffee drinks, as well as tea.
- Assist with food preparation tasks.
- Uphold product quality by adhering to all established recipes and standards.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace at all times.
- Handle daily sales transactions, operate the cash register, and conduct end-of-day cash counts.
- Develop extensive knowledge of specialty products and engage in suggestive selling when appropriate. Qualifications

- A genuine passion and knowledge of coffee, tea, and related products.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to multitask effectively.
- High standards of excellence in quality and service.
- An engaging personality that can generate excitement around our offerings.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Previous café experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role. Working Environment

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-12 hours.
- Capable of bending, stooping, and climbing as necessary.
- Requires mental and physical dexterity.
