Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
Job Summary:
Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to join our Cath Lab team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and caring way while incorporating differences into the provision of care.
- Performs psychosocial/physiologic assessments that integrate changing data as documented in procedure notes.
- Tailors and prioritizes caring practices to individual needs, including cultural/ethnic/spiritual needs.
- Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care while determining immediate priorities and offering solutions for problems.
- Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath lab with the preparation of the sterile field, selection and preparation of instruments and supplies, manipulation of cardiac catheters, guidewires, etc., and injection of contrast media.
- Administers medications, including moderate sedation, as directed by the physician.
- Calibrates, operates, and troubleshoots a wide variety of equipment and instruments on a daily basis.
- Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient presentation during procedures.
- Appropriately delegates patient care activities to other healthcare team members and participates in making and revising staff assignments.
Requirements:
- Work schedule: start time for Cath lab is 6:30am - 4-10hr or 3-12hr days, M-F; on-call required.
- Location: Inova Alexandria Hospital.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and/or Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience: One – three years of experience in interventional Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab performing Cardio Invasive Specialist duties or equivalent years of experience as a nurse working in a critical care hospital unit.
- Certification: BLS Certification, ACLS Certification, Registered in one of the following: RCIS, RTR VI, RTR CV, RTR CI, unless a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. If doesn't possess one of the above registries, must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
