Position Overview:

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program Instructor and Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing the administration and support of the EMT program within the Related Technical Instruction framework of the EMT Registered Apprenticeship Program.

This position entails serving as a faculty member, fulfilling all responsibilities associated with full-time faculty, which includes attending meetings, adhering to external requirements, conducting systematic evaluations of program effectiveness, aiding in recruitment initiatives, and acting as a liaison with employer partners and healthcare facilities.

UMA Education is a nonprofit institution dedicated to healthcare education, with a significant national footprint. Our programs are designed to be engaging and interactive, combining online learning with practical training.


Compensation:
Starting salary is anticipated at $58,000.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage the Related Technical Instruction aspects of the EMT program.
  • Deliver instruction through both theoretical and simulated clinical training.
  • Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and develop remediation strategies.
  • Guide and mentor apprentices during their clinical rotations.
  • Engage with journey workers, employer partners, and clinical sites regarding apprentice competencies and progress.
  • Regularly update training materials for journey workers.
  • Assist in budget monitoring for the program.
  • Collaborate with program leadership, staff, and external vendors.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and institutional policies.
  • Design instruction for a web-enhanced educational environment.
  • Implement program modifications and new courses based on community needs.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and other assigned duties.
  • Ensure program delivery aligns with national EMT standards.
  • Facilitate the submission of certification applications and schedule examinations for apprentices.
  • Timely submission of grades, data, and reports.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Attend professional development meetings and training sessions.
  • Engage in community activities as appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree.
  • Two years of Level B instructor experience.
  • Active Florida Paramedic License.
  • A minimum of four years of experience as a field-level provider in a prehospital setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Work Environment:

This role requires the ability to work in various settings, including office, classroom, and laboratory environments. Some travel may be necessary, and a valid driver's license is required. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may also be needed.


Physical Requirements:

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to respond promptly to emergency calls and fulfill physically demanding tasks. Correctable vision is necessary for reading gauges and fine print.
