Position Summary
This is a full-time hybrid position for a Lead Litigation Counsel at Burrows & Stutsman LLP, offering flexibility for remote work. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in providing superior legal assistance to our attorneys, fostering the growth and evolution of our practice, and ensuring exceptional service delivery to our clientele. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a driven and proficient legal expert to assume a leadership position and influence the trajectory of our firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Thorough management of a comprehensive caseload encompassing both pre-litigation and ongoing litigation matters.
- Draft a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and trial preparation materials.
- Collaborate with fellow attorneys to prepare for meetings, depositions, and negotiations, offering valuable insights and strategic counsel.
- Conduct in-depth legal research to inform clients about the strengths of their claims and the defenses against them.
- Engage in negotiations with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders to resolve legal conflicts and achieve favorable resolutions.
- Maintain communication with clients regarding the status of their cases and strategic approaches.
- Provide strategic mentorship and support to junior attorneys, aiding in their professional development.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- A minimum of 4 years of legal practice experience, particularly in civil litigation (insurance defense experience is advantageous).
- Proficient in legal research tools, including Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw, with a commitment to staying current with industry developments.
- Strong legal research and analytical skills.
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities, capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
- A solid grasp of legal procedures and the capacity to apply them across various scenarios.
- A dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Trial experience is a plus but not mandatory.
