Position Summary:
The San Antonio River Authority is seeking a highly skilled professional to oversee a variety of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling initiatives. This role involves managing updates to mapping, implementing flood mitigation strategies, and executing stream restoration projects, along with other infrastructure endeavors that incorporate nature-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team comprising graduate engineers, engineers-in-training, and technical staff, focusing on workload management and professional growth.
- Ensure quality assurance in engineering tasks related to design and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
- Conduct engineering analyses, H&H modeling, and permitting for civil or environmental projects, emphasizing sustainable practices.
- Review and validate engineering documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and community guidelines.
- Engage in field assessments to support modeling and design activities.
- Manage engineering projects, including goal setting, budget preparation, and public relations coordination.
- Facilitate communication and documentation with various stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and project partners.
- Collaborate with consultants to coordinate project efforts effectively.
- Prepare and present project updates and findings to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
Supervisory Role:
This position includes direct supervision of engineers and technical staff.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited institution in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering, or a related field, along with six years of relevant engineering experience.
- A Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred, along with two years of supervisory experience.
Licenses:
- Must possess a Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas.
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to modeling, planning, and project management.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and federal regulations concerning water resources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, CADD, and relevant modeling software.
Skills:
- Effective project and personnel management abilities.
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Work Environment:
This role may involve both office-based and fieldwork, requiring adaptability to various environmental conditions.
