Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Daifuku. As a key member of our engineering team, you will design and develop control systems and power distribution systems for industrial material handling solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design control systems and power distribution systems for industrial material handling solutions
  • Develop specifications, device layout drawings, control and power schematics, PLC and QNX logic
  • Implement solutions that deliver exceptional value to our customers
  • Work closely with the project team to design systems that exceed project requirements
  • Perform diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibility
  • Review customer specifications and scope documentation for quotation and clarification
  • Design system layouts, schematics, and control devices
  • Prepare schematics and specifications for control and panel fabrication
  • Provide documentation and support to the field wiring team
  • Configure and implement systems that use QNX operating system
  • Work closely with the Software Engineering team to integrate control solutions
  • Perform on-site commissioning to implement and validate the system design
  • Lead and direct project work and less skilled associates
Requirements
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in electrical/controls engineering or a related engineering field
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering design and project execution experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years of related experience is preferred
  • Requires approximately 50% travel
  • Comfortable with AutoCAD
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Energetic, friendly, outgoing, and proactive personality
  • Demonstrate creative thinking
  • Have a strong interest in Industrial Automation
  • Be self-motivated
  • Willing to learn and grow with the company
  • Have experience with Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, Schneider and Omron PLC knowledge a plus
  • Have experience using QNX OS is a plus
  • Have experience with various industrial HMI and SCADA systems
  • Ability to speak Japanese is an advantage
