About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality mental health care to our nation's veterans.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations for adult and geriatric patients presenting with acute and/or chronic mental, behavioral, and/or substance use disorders.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive interventions, including pharmacological, behavioral therapy, and psychotherapeutic treatment modalities as clinically indicated for Veteran's clinical diagnoses.
  • Provide medication management for patients with co-morbid medical conditions, substance use disorders, dementia, and chronic pain disorders.
  • Provide medication-assisted treatment as clinically indicated for Veterans with alcohol, opioid, and other substance use disorders on an outpatient basis.
  • Provide psychiatric consultation and management to Veterans admitted to the Community Living Center (CLC).
  • Recommend higher levels of behavioral health care when clinically indicated.
  • Provide same-day psychiatric consultation to Veterans who present with urgent or emergent behavioral health needs.
  • Collaborate with non-VA community-based providers as needed for care coordination.
Requirements
  • Must be a Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Must be a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed an accredited residency and/or possess experience which has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule, including one evening shift per week. The position requires occasional travel and may involve working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
