Description:
As a Travel Nurse RN Neurology, you will provide high-quality patient care in a hospital setting, working with a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. You will be expected to float in department as needed and work every other weekend, as well as a fair share of holidays. You must have ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. This is a Stroke and Neuro floor, with ortho and spine patients also present. The unit has a comprehensive stroke center designation and a 3:1 patient-to-nurse ratio for stroke patients and 5:1 for all other patients. There are two CTAs on the unit.
Essential Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, and noting all changes in physician orders. You will assist the physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. You will obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervene when necessary. You will administer medication as prescribed, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products, and deliver patient care competently. You will interact with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge, inform patient and family of hospital procedures, make referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel, and ensure that patient care is delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
Required Skills & Experience:
1 year of experience in Neurology Unit.
Education:
Required Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum Degree Required:
Associate's Degree (Community College, MBO)
Preferred Education:
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program
Required Certifications & Licensure:
Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association
