Job Opportunity

CPH, a leading engineering and architectural design firm, is seeking a highly skilled Professional Engineer to join our Community Development team in Columbia, SC.

Job Summary

We are looking for a licensed Professional Engineer with strong organizational and technical skills to serve as Engineer of Record for land development projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with project management, construction document preparation, permitting, construction administration, agency coordination, and client communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fulfilling requirements as Engineer of Record for design, permitting, and construction administration of projects.
  • Preparing accurate presentation, design, details, and construction documents.
  • Oversight of project design team, including engineers, designers, consultants, and clients.
  • Collaboration with other firm engineers, architects, disciplines, project managers, and business development teams.
  • Research, interpretation, and implementation of relevant codes and client requirements.
  • Development, implementation, and utilization of CPH and client standards and templates.
  • Preparation of specifications, review of shop drawings, and construction administration support as Engineer of Record.
  • Periodic travel for agency coordination, project management, site investigations, and construction observation.
  • Oversight and assistance with compiling construction plans from all disciplines and submittal to agencies having jurisdiction.
  • Oversight and mentoring project Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Review of documents prepared by others and implementation of project quality control.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a P.E. License in the State of South Carolina or ability to obtain additional state licensure through reciprocity.
  • 4-5+ years of US experience in design and permitting public or private land development projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and Smartsheet experience a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of project process from concept through construction.
  • Ability to consistently exercise good independent judgment in evaluation and determination of design solutions.
  • Stormwater management, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection system, and limited roadway design experience in support of land development projects.
  • Effective in providing instruction, teaching, and mentoring in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Superior communication, written, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, quality-conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
