Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Radiation Therapist operates advanced radiation therapy equipment to simulate and treat patients with malignancies. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate medical records, completing charge procedures, and performing quality assurance checks to ensure the precision of all treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient simulations under physician guidance, ensuring proper alignment and documentation.
- Assist in the design and fabrication of patient immobilization and treatment devices.
- Support dosimetry procedures by gathering necessary patient data.
- Educate patients about simulation and treatment processes, addressing potential reactions as directed.
- Monitor patients for treatment reactions and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
- Execute prescribed radiation therapy plans, preparing treatment rooms and equipment accordingly.
- Oversee patient and equipment status during treatment, noting any irregularities.
- Perform daily quality checks on equipment, documenting findings and addressing any discrepancies.
- Coordinate patient treatment schedules effectively.
- Accurately record daily patient billing.
- Contribute to the clinical education of radiation therapy students.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Licensure Requirements:
- Associate's Degree (required)
- Graduation from an Accredited Radiation Therapy Program (required)
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Radiation Therapist R.T.(T)(ARRT) (required)
- Licensed by the relevant Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) (required)
Experience:
Familiarity with simulation and radiation therapy equipment is essential.
Pay Range:
$52.00/hour
