Job Summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and efficient registration process for patients, while providing exceptional customer service and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets and directs patients and visitors, providing friendly and courteous services at all times.
  • Provides accurate information and directions, and handles requests in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Collects and accurately enters patient information into the computer system, efficiently registering patients into the Patient Management System or the Patient Tracking Board.
  • Communicates effectively with all customers, both internal and external.
  • Responsible for contacting the Primary Care Physician and/or the Financial Representative to obtain required insurance referrals and pre-certs when necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of current insurance regulations and policies, and contacts insurance companies to verify benefits when applicable.
  • Verifies all insurance/self pay through online eligibility, and contacts insurance companies to verify benefits via phone or insurance website when necessary.
  • Responsible for identifying, collecting, and recording self pay, or co pay and/or deductibles when applicable prior to or at time of registration.
  • Responsible for accurate order entry for Lab or Radiology.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to registration.
  • Demonstrates efficiency and familiarity with hospital systems, including Pathways, Lab, PHS scheduler, Epic, Patient Management System, Precision, Patient Tracking Board, Navinet, PIM, and Microsoft Word.
  • Obtains physician's Medical License #, NPI#, and UPIN# via appropriate websites and completes appropriate form for processing.
  • Responsible for sign in registry for vendors and clergy, providing churches and clergy information when needed.
  • Handles the training of Information Desk volunteers.
  • Provides other hospital departments and physician offices with information or materials related to Bethlehem Registration processes.
  • Provides St. Luke's Hospital with data and documents necessary to produce a patient bill by conducting in-person or telephone interviews with patient or facilities to gather demographic, financial, guarantor, referring and primary care physician data, to establish or verify an existing medical record number, and entering the information into the hospital computer system.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required (office setting preferred).
  • General computer experience with data entry required.
  • Insurance background preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
Work Schedule

Monday, Saturday, Sunday, Friday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, and every other Holiday, as scheduled.
