Research Scientist

About the Role:

The University of Florida's Research & Engineering Education Facility is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our Autonomous Vehicles Lab. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing hardware proof-of-concept demonstrations of autonomy algorithms on aerial and ground robots.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement open-source robotics systems to build the next generation of Guidance, Navigation, and Control architectures.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop code for testing and evaluating research-level algorithms on simulations and hardware platforms.
• Present demonstrations to UF researchers, sponsor researchers, or support hardware implementations for visiting researchers.

Requirements:

• BS in engineering or computer science or related field.
• Solid programming experience in C++ or Python for robotics.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Unreal Engine for environment creation and modification.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Experience with software development, including testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience with ROS and Linux systems.
• Prior experience working with ground and aerial robots.
• Experience implementing Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms.
