Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Instrument Operator to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. As an Instrument Operator, you will be responsible for supervising and training Surveyor Assistants, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and collecting survey data and performing layouts in accordance with Bechtel Surveying Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and train Surveyor Assistants
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Collect survey data and perform layouts in accordance with Bechtel Surveying Procedures
  • Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark
  • Carry and set stakes and clear brush from survey lines
  • Stake and grade for excavation
  • Operate survey instruments and obtain data pertaining to angles, elevations, points, and contours
  • Compile notes, sketches, and records of data obtained, and work performed
  • Communicate with Field Engineers and Supervisors
  • Work under time constraints and be adaptable to changing conditions
  • Assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control for the project
  • Review design drawings for correct data and check calculations
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation
  • Adhere to safety procedures
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of surveying procedures and be able to work effectively in a team environment. You will also need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with Field Engineers and Supervisors.
