Dental Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team at a thriving dental practice. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing outstanding patient care and contributing to the success of our practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist dentists during dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment using appropriate sterilization techniques.
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and process them for the dentist's analysis.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and other dental health topics.
  • Prepare examination and surgical rooms by sterilizing instruments and moving necessary equipment into place.
  • Assist in office administration tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and managing patient billing.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Assist with or perform laboratory duties such as pouring and trimming models, constructing custom impression trays, and fabricating temporary restorations.
  • Work collaboratively with the dental team to ensure a positive, professional, and efficient patient experience.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
  • Current Dental Assisting certification.
  • Proficiency in dental software for patient record management and appointment scheduling.
  • Excellent knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate patients on dental health and hygiene.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of patients with professionalism and empathy.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of office administration tasks, including scheduling, billing, and record keeping.
  • Current CPR certification.
