Job Summary

The CDL Driver is a critical member of our team at Second Harvest Foodbank, responsible for safely transporting food to our partner agencies and donors. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive trucks safely to pick up and deliver food, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all donation pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Provide backup support for deliveries using the sprinter van and other vehicles, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partner agencies, food donors, and other stakeholders, promoting a culture of collaboration and respect.
  • Participate in ongoing safety programs, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and volunteers.
  • Report equipment issues to the Transportation Supervisor, ensuring prompt maintenance and repair.
  • Ensure program operations comply with Second Harvest, State, and Local regulations, maintaining a high level of integrity and accountability.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers and operations team members, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Attend Driver and All Staff Meetings, staying informed about organizational updates and initiatives.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, ensuring the general upkeep of all vehicles driven.

Requirements
  • Valid CDL Class A License.
  • 1 year of related experience, with a strong understanding of logistics and transportation operations.
  • Ability to obtain ANSI Food Manager safety accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.

  • Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
