Job Responsibilities

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing advanced computer tomography procedures and generating both sectional and three-dimensional images for diagnostic interpretation. This role also involves assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Key Duties
  1. Conducts intricate CT examinations.
  2. Utilizes professional judgment to gather and document patient clinical histories relevant to procedures.
  3. Prepares and reviews contrast questionnaires with patients or family members.
  4. Administers contrast media for CT exams as directed by licensed practitioners.
  5. Verifies patient prescriptions for appropriateness and communicates with relevant medical professionals as necessary.
  6. Ensures insurance authorization for exams and manages necessary documentation.
  7. Coordinates the acquisition of external studies and schedules them for review.
  8. Provides copies of exams to patients and referring physicians.
  9. Evaluates radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality.
  10. Gathers pertinent information from medical records and healthcare providers to prepare for patient safety and scanning protocols.
  11. Prepares patients for procedures, ensuring appropriate shielding and immobilization.
  12. Determines suitable contrast types and dosages for administration.
  13. Communicates clearly with patients, addressing their questions and concerns.
  14. Performs venipuncture and monitors patients for any adverse reactions during procedures.
  15. Maintains a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends, to ensure quality patient care.
  16. Adheres to established guidelines for employee conduct and physical requirements.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of human anatomy and radiological positioning.
  • Familiarity with CT software and hardware.
  • Proficient in using PACS systems.
  • Current CEU credits.
  • ARRT (CT) certification must be obtained within twelve months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least six months of CT experience.
  • Knowledge of Epic and other HIS/RIS systems.
  • ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license is preferred.
