The Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our team working on large language models (LLMs). As an engineer, you'll collaborate with product teams to develop tools that people use. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of ownership, contributing expertise to advance our organization's machine learning capabilities and drive innovation in our products and services.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable models.
  • Design and develop scalable machine learning pipelines for data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.
  • Work with data engineers to collect and preprocess data sets for model training.
  • Implement models in our production code base using primarily Python and Go programming languages.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research in ML and related fields, applying this knowledge to improve Rippling products.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, combined with 6+ years of full-time software engineering experience; OR 10+ years of full-time software engineering experience, including 4+ years in areas like advertising, recommendation systems, risk/fraud modeling, or natural language processing.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, C/C++.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and precisely.
Additional Qualifications

Prior experience with developing things that use large language models (LLMs) and familiarity with pre-training and fine-tuning techniques are highly desirable.
