Roles & Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair problems with engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and similar systems.
- Test systems and components to ensure they are secure and working properly.
- Drive vehicles for testing purposes or use equipment like hand-held and onboard compression gauges or diagnostic computers.
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
- Follow a checklist to ensure critical parts of the vehicle are examined.
- Inspect parts like hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, and other possible troublesome items.
- Use power tools like pneumatic wrenches to remove bolts easily and quickly.
- Use machine tools like grinding machines and lathes to rebuild brakes.
- Use common hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers to work on small-scale parts.
- Write vehicle damage repair estimates.
