Lead Financial Accountant

Position Overview:
The Lead Financial Accountant is expected to possess extensive expertise in General Ledger accounting and to adeptly manage intricate issues and challenges. This role will assist the Accounting Manager and Senior Accounting Manager with the month-end closing processes, as well as Balance Sheet account reconciliations, analysis of account activities, and related journal entries. Furthermore, the Lead Financial Accountant may take on a leadership role, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute month-end closing tasks in accordance with the monthly closing checklist, which includes generating reports, analyzing data and account balances, and preparing accruals or reclassifying entries.
- Support the Senior Accounting Manager in the preparation and review of weekly flash and interim reports.
- Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts monthly, ensuring timely identification, tracking, and resolution of any discrepancies.
- Contribute to the year-end financial statement audit by fulfilling assigned requests.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Senior Manager to assist in the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statement disclosures.
- Prepare intercompany overhead allocations across all entities and divisions utilizing Power BI reports.
- Create and maintain amortization schedules for Prepaid Expenses along with supporting documentation.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of Profit and Loss Statements and provide variance analysis against budgeted figures.
- Manage Lease accounting in compliance with ASC 842, ensuring accurate record-keeping to support all entries.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of Fixed Assets and Capital Projects within the ERP system.
- Collaborate with other departments regarding billing inquiries and collections related to brokerage accounts.
- Address ad-hoc reporting or analytical requests as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail to guarantee accuracy.
- Ability to excel in a high-volume environment while managing multiple tasks.
- Relevant experience in a corporate accounting setting.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in corporate general accounting.
- CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Dynamics365 or other ERP/accounting systems.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including analytics, data management, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.
- Familiarity with video conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with reporting tools like Microsoft Power BI.
This position offers a hybrid work environment and a competitive annual salary range.
