Position Overview

General Overview

This role involves participation in an internship program, typically requiring part-time hours per week. The duration is anticipated to be 6 months, during which the intern will engage in actuarial, underwriting, or business analytics initiatives. Responsibilities may encompass tasks such as claim reserving, pricing analysis, underwriting processes, forecasting, rate testing, provider reimbursement analysis, data analytics, data visualization, and other assigned duties.

Key Responsibilities

The intern may be tasked with a diverse range of assignments, influenced by departmental workload and priorities, as well as the individual's strengths and background. Responsibilities can range from routine tasks to intricate, multi-step projects.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is essential; degrees in mathematics, actuarial science, quantitative analysis, or business are preferred.
  • A passing score on one or more Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Capability to conduct detailed calculations and independently resolve complex issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic with a keen interest in acquiring new skills and responsibilities.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and adhere to tight deadlines.

Work Environment

This position is based in a general office setting, which may involve prolonged periods of sitting.
