Position Overview: The orthopedic surgeon with a fellowship in trauma is responsible for delivering both surgical and non-surgical interventions to patients facing intricate orthopedic trauma challenges. This includes management of pelvic fractures, complex intra-articular fractures, and advanced procedures for bone defects, osteomyelitis, and non-unions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver advanced orthopedic care aligned with the standards set by the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Provide orthopedic trauma coverage at the Bristol-Myer Squibb Trauma Center.
  • Support general orthopedic needs in the Emergency Departments of Capital Health Regional Medical Center and Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell.
  • Conduct orthopedic consultations and manage in-patient care across both campuses.
  • Plan and execute surgical interventions for complex orthopedic cases, including pelvic and long bone fractures.
  • Participate in the orthopedic trauma service and collaborate with other medical services for comprehensive patient management.
  • Engage in the emergency call schedule for orthopedic cases.
  • Oversee post-operative care, ensuring a continuum of care for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Provide general orthopedic outpatient services, including follow-up care.
  • Manage unassigned orthopedic clinical responsibilities across Capital Health facilities.
  • Ensure timely patient referrals and care delivery.
  • Develop and coordinate a trauma call schedule in conjunction with the Emergency Room Orthopedic service.
  • Act as the orthopedic representative on multi-disciplinary committees.
  • Educate and train medical residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
  • Contribute to the establishment of quality metrics and improvement programs.
  • Adhere to institutional policies regarding professional responsibilities, including credentialing and documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with the extended inter-professional team.

Qualifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery with experience in an ACS verified Level I or II trauma center or fellowship training in Orthopedic traumatology is required.
